The time is always right to do what is right.

Your dreams

I have a dream that one day... we will all treat each other with respect and dignity, honor and understand our differences, learn the lessons of the past, and hope for a kinder and more humane future. It seems this dream has been taken hostage and it needs to be rescued. --M. Fletcher of Alexandria, VA

The memorial is a directional sculpture that displays four separate murals depicting different sides of Martin Luther King Jr.’s personality. Utilizing a corrugated screen, each side of the memorial displays two murals woven together as slices in a way similar to interlacing. Each mural is comprised of eight 40″ X 22′ prints. There are four separate vantage points from which to view the murals; each 100 feet away from the sculpture at a 45 degree angle to it. To visually unify the slices of each mural, individuals must position themselves at just the right vantage point. As viewers interact with the work, Dr. King’s image and message become distorted, obscured and then lost, as when people try to manipulate Dr. King’s legacy for their own purposes. The sculpture and the drawings “fall apart” until movement and time unveil a new image and message and Dr. King’s legacy is rediscovered. The images are vectorized charcoal drawings by the artist.
